Things Don't Just Happen

I began memorizing the book of Colosians this year because of this verse.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.”  Col 3:2-3

Practice confessing that several times a day….it is shocking to the system!

Memorizing  focuses your mind on words and thoughts in a way reading can’t….and I found myself stopped in my tracks as I realized that these words are actually true for me!!!!!  This is my story…

Over the years, the Lord has taken me though deep valleys and desert experiences which have proven that  life is fragile and death certain.   I actually named my autobiography for seminary, “Days of Pain and Nights of Prayer”!  My journey has been a testimony to the faithfulness of God to bring me back to the true and greater reality of life in the kingdom of God.   Each time I surrendered my life back to Him , I became more aware of this singular kingdom of Christ Jesus in which I existed…and came alive with new energy, excitement and creativity from above.

I, Gail, a steward of Christ Jesus, by the will of God…” reflects Paul’s introduction of himself as an apostle in Col. 1.  I realized that my identity as a steward was given to me as a gift…..an identity I would not have recognized by myself.  This is who I have become because of my life experiences in the will of God.  I now operate in this world no longer as an owner of anything….but a steward responsible to the King for all He has given me.  This change happened when He asked, ,”Would you give back to Me everything I have given you?”  I could only answer a “yes” because I learned to release my life to Him over the years.  Releasing all I owned in the earth was a simple step.  Because of The Father of Glory and Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit of love, this Blessing House exists and I get to be the steward of this great treasure……only by the will of God.

My question to you is how would you fill in the blanks…

I,______________, an/a________________________of Christ Jesus, by the will of God…

Who are you in the Kingdom of God living your life in the earth?

A Prayer for The Blessing House

Our Father Who Art in Heaven, Hallowed be His Name.  Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

May we, your servants of The Blessing House, continue to accomplish Your will by providing spaces for You to work in.  May The Blessing House, built on the foundation of the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ, be a blessing to each and every person who walks through its doors.  May this house continued to be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – a place where you dwell in Spirit.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Lord, we ask for living stones to continue to build the financial and spiritual foundation of The Blessing House and to provide our daily bread.  May the opportunity to share in the joy of paying it forward reach more and more people.  May the ministry of The Blessing House perpetuate and multiply.  Bless our Open House event on May 15th, that the work of your servants be fruitful and that your message of unconditional Fatherly love is spread to all those who enter in.

And forgive us our sins… as we forgive those who sin against us.  And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the power and the kingdom and the glory, forever and ever.

Lord, we come to you as sinners, at war with our sinful nature.  Forgive us for our mis-steps, for our imperfect thinking, and self-imposed burdens that come from not trusting You.  We thank you that we are no longer slaves to sin because you paid the ultimate price for our freedom.  We are now slaves to righteousness, Your grateful servants.  Bless our desire to do Your will.  Protect us and The Blessing House from evil.  May our door always be open.  May acceptance be in place of criticism and may forgiveness come easy.  May our learning and teaching be encouraging.  May we grow closer in our relationship with You and experience great joy.

May a new wall of living stones be built into this spiritual house… a space for You to work in.
